What To Expect During ProFractional Laser Treatment
Preparing for Treatment
Before your ProFractional laser treatment, we provide specific instructions to help you prepare, such as:
- Avoiding the sun and indoor tanning
- Discontinuing medications or supplements that may slow healing
- Discontinuing the use of skin products containing retinoids or glycolic acid
- Quitting smoking
All other preparations will occur in our office. On the day of your treatment, we use topical numbing cream to make your experience as comfortable as possible. The cream takes around 20 to 30 minutes to take full effect. Then, you place goggles over your eyes, and you’re ready for treatment.
The Treatment Process
The ProFractional laser works on tiny sections of skin, creating microscopic channels into the dermis, the middle layer of the skin. This stimulates collagen production to smooth skin and restore volume.
It’s normal to feel some mild discomfort and a sensation of deep heat. The treatment only takes about 15 minutes.
After Treatment
Pinpoint bleeding and facial swelling are normal following treatment and should subside quickly. We provide detailed aftercare instructions, which begin with gently washing your face with cool water at home and applying the recommended ointment.
