A convenient and effective service, laser hair removal helps patients enjoy a permanent reduction in unwanted hair. Laser hair removal works by sending a beam of laser light to a group of hair follicles. The laser treatment has enough energy to destroy the hair's root, but not enough power to harm surrounding skin. This advanced option can effectively treat all colors of hair and all skin colors, even tan skin! It may be performed to reduce hair on the legs, abdomen, underarms, back, chest, neck, chin, along the upper lip, and other areas where unwanted hair is a concern.
Most laser hair removal patients require multiple treatments because the procedure is most effective when hair is in the growth stage. However, because hair growth occurs in phases, not all follicles will be in this stage at one time. For optimum results, treatments are recommended every four to six weeks, and depending on the size of the treated area, three to eight sessions may be necessary. During the procedure, patients may experience mild discomfort or a brief tingling sensation, but most laser hair removal patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately after treatment with no downtime.
